چکیده

The aim of our research was to investigate theeffect of the length of the polymer chain and the concen-tration of triethyl citrate used as a plasticizer on the thermalstability of the film structure in the case of two ethyl cel-lulose films (EC 10 and EC 45) used for preparing MRdosage forms. The influence of storage time was studied bymonitoring the changes in the thermoanalytical parametersand by performing TG–MS examinations. It was found thatthe decomposition of the plasticizer from the arising filmstructure is retarded and a more homogeneous sample, therefore a better film can be prepared from EC 45. Massspectrography performed as a coupled technique alsoproved that the films stayed stable until approximately200 C. Based on the above results, the composition pre-pared from EC 45 polymer with 5% triethyl citrate asplasticizer is recommended for making MR dosage forms.

Sodium Alginate/Starch Blends Loaded with Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride as a Floating Drug Delivery System - In Vitro Evaluation

In the present study, Floating Drug Delivery Beads (FDDS) were prepared with sodium alginate/ starch blend as a matrix, sodium hydrogen carbonate as a pore forming agent, methyl cellulose as a binder and barium chloride solution as a hardening agent. In order to prepare the beads with different porosity and morphology the ratio between pore forming agent to polymer blend and ratio of the co...

Critical points in ethylcellulose matrices: influence of the polymer, drug and filler properties.

Percolation theory has been applied to study the drug release behaviour in multicomponent inert matrices containing ethylcellulose as a matrix forming polymer. Global influence of major formulation factors such as polymer viscosity, polymer particle size, drug and filler solubility and porosity of the tablets in drug release kinetics has been studied for the first time. Batches containing three...

Design, Formulation and Characterization of Fast Dissolving Films Containing Dextromethorphan

The aim of this study was to formulate and characterize fast dissolving films containing dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DM) for oral use. Hydroxylpropyl methylcellulose E15 (HPMC) was used as the film forming polymer and crosspovidone (CPV), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) were used as superdisintegrants. In this study, medicated films were prepared by solvent casting method. The physicochemic...

Effect of Fe3+–MMT on thermal degradation and mechanical behavior of PVP/Amylose nanocomposite films

Novel nanocomposite films based on amylose (AM) and Fe3+-montmorillonite (Fe3+–MMT) in the matrix of poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) were fabricated by using a solution casting method. The X-Ray diffractional analysis indicated that an ion-exchange process occurred between Fe3+–MMT and PVP. Thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA), differential termogravivetrical analy...

Formulation and Evaluation of Diclofenac Sodium Sustained Release Tablets Using Melt Granulation Technique

Hydrophilic polymers alone are not quite efficient in controlling the release of highly water soluble drugs. Hydrophobic Polymer and pore forming agent have been extensively investigated for sustaining the release of drug. They provide several advantages include good stability at varying pH ranges and effectively retards the water soluble drug. In the present study it was a novel approach where...
